First Grade Seder Plates

First graders learned about seder plates, a ritual item used at the Passover seder table. The items on the plate represent facets of the Passover story. We discussed each one, then practiced clay techniques such as rolling, coiling, pinch pots, and using tools to create texture. To decorate the plates, they used tissue paper and mod podge.

Kindergarten Turtle Sculptures

Kindergarteners learned about Leatherback Trust, an organization dedicated to saving the leatherback sea turtle. They created their sculptures from polymer clay, then painted them. To create their leatherback turtle habitats, they used oil pastel on watercolor paper. Then, they blended watercolor paints on wet paper to create their oceans.
