The Longest Line (Rashi School Online Lesson)

Hello students! This is a fun lesson that will help you create some eye-catching abstract art.

Materials:
Paper
Black pen or marker/Sharpie
Markers or colored pencils

Abstract art is a kind of art which features lines and shapes in the design, instead of something realistic. Here are some famous works of abstract art:

Piet Mondrian, Broadway Boogie Woogie, 1942

Robert Delaunay, Premier Disque, 1912

Thornton Dial, Out of the Darkness, the Lord Gave us Light, 2003

Start in the corner of the page. Draw a line that fills out the whole sheet and does NOT hit or cross itself. And- the line should meet back where it started. This is the tricky part, and it should take you five or ten minutes, at least.

Now, draw three or four geometric shapes over the lines. Finally, color in each shape with a color combination of your choice. Rashi students, remember to submit your work on Google Classroom!
